A few years back I came across Rocky Mountain Wild at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival. I had just moved to Denver from the East coast and was excited to find like minded individuals and organizations that I could join to volunteer my time. I had always been passionate about conservation, the outdoors and photography and wanted to utilize my skills with a local Denver organization.
I started to work with Chris on the weekly environmental events blog combing through the world wide web in search of all that was educational, fun and informative in Colorado and beyond.
At the same time I had also signed up for the Pika Patrol which allowed me to utilize my research skills again, learn about a little critter we certainly do not see in New England, and meet some wonderful people from all walks of life!
I was graciously invited to join the 100 Woman for the Wild campaign which is so vital in encouraging young woman to participate in the field of science. I even got to head out with Pika rockstar and researcher Chris Ray for an informal hike and observation of Pikas up at Brainard Lake.
I am grateful for the volunteer opportunities that RMW provided and I look forwarded to helping out more in 2018!
