RMW hosting a virtual Wild & Scenic Film Festival next Thursday!

By: Chris Talbot-Heindl, Communications Director, Leadership Team

Rocky Mountain Wild is hosting the acclaimed Wild & Scenic Film Festival World Tour next Thursday! And we are inviting you to join us from the comfort of your home for this virtual event.

This year, we’ve curated our films to inspire you, no matter who you are, to do something for the betterment of the planet. Whether you do your best activism from your computer or you make a living in outdoor recreation, we have films that will speak to you and inspire you to keep the Rocky Mountains (and everywhere else) wild. Check out a list and description of all the films we’ll be screening on our event page.

Want to join in the event, but have plans next Thursday evening, 7:00-9:00 pm? No worries! This program is available on Video on Demand, which allows you to watch on your own schedule! You will receive a link and password to access the film program for viewing and will have access beginning October 20 at 10:00 pm MT through Tuesday, October 25, 11:55 pm MT. The only thing you won’t have access to is the event chat where our staff will be speaking with attendees on the night. Get your tickets today!

And because we like to go all-out here at Rocky Mountain Wild, we also have days of direct action leading up to the film festival, a raffle, and a silent auction! Read more about them below.

Wild & Scenic Days of Action

If you’ve been to the Wild & Scenic Film Festival World Tour in-person before, you know that we always like to give attendees an opportunity to take action and make a difference. We’ve invited local nonprofits to lunch-and-learn hours on October 18 and 19 where you can do just that! Hear from environmental nonprofits about current direct actions you can take, ask any questions you have, and take action!

Join us on:

  • October 18, noon-1:00 pm MT to take action with Defenders of Wildlife to urge Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper to oppose Senator Manchin’s “Dirty Deal” and help ensure that it is not attached to any legislation in the future! Register to save your spot.
  • October 19, noon-1:00 pm MT to take action with The Wilderness Society and Wild Connections. Learn how you can protect your local Bureau of Land Management Lands from the mountains to the Arkansas River Canyonlands! Register to save your spot.

Other organizations have been invited to join us, so stay tuned for additions to the line up.

We understand that a lot of families have been hit hard by the coronavirus and everything that’s happened since then. While this event is our largest fundraiser of the year, it is our goal that everyone who wants to attend the festival can, regardless of their current financial situation. If you have been impacted and would like to attend the film festival, please contact me at chris@rockymountainwild.org to arrange for a complimentary ticket.
