March for Science Denver Apr 22

Dana #StandWithGunnyJoin us for the March for Science – Denver and stop by our Gunny sage-grouse advocacy booth while you’re there!

A group of RMW staff and board members are participating in the March for Science – Denver on Earth Day and you are more than welcome to join us.

The group will meet at Alliance for Sustainable Colorado (1536 Wynkoop St, Denver) at 9:30 am and walk to the march location (Civic Center Park) together.

Here’s an itinerary and map for the event.

RMW also has a booth at the teach-in event! We will be discussing our Gunny sage-grouse advocacy campaign at the booth.

RMW always uses the best-available science to inform our conservation work and guide our advocacy. Currently, we are advocating for the protection of habitat for the Gunnison sage-grouse – a bird so fare, there are fewer than 5,000 left! The last remaining habitat for these small, vulnerable populations is not protected from oil and gas drilling, construction of power lines and roads, and other threats. The new administration’s emphasis on opening more public land to oil and gas drilling may result in loss of critical habitat.

We are advocating for the protection of this habitat, asking the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to listen to biologists who have determined that protecting six small and incredibly vulnerable populations will preserve the genetic diversity of the species and safeguard against catastrophic events that could wipe them out.

Stop by the booth after the march and sign a postcard or color a coloring page which we will send to the BLM.
